The Western Boreal Growth and Yield Co-operative was established in the mid 1980’s as an informal group of agencies and companies involved in forest growth and yield activities. The group has fostered communication on various aspects of growth and yield through meetings, lectures from invited speakers and field trips. A long term study of aspen / spruce stand development was started in 1990. As a result of the groups work, the management of forest resource will be enhanced through an improved understanding of growth and yield of forest stands along with an improved understanding of stand dynamics of mixedwood management.
