Object & Deliverables

The primary purpose of this Project was to develop a program to measure, evaluate and monitor sedimentation caused by forest road construction in the southern Grande Prairie area.

Project objectives included the assessment of current methodologies and pracitices to measure siltation caused by forest road construction; the development/testing of a program to monitor siltation [sedimentation]; and eventually to implement a sedimentation monitoring program.

Over the period of 2002 to 2005 inclusive – a literature review was conducted, initial testing of the Stream Crossing Quality Index [SCQI] System occurred, staff training was carried out, turbidity monitoring stations established, water quality monitoring & stream crossing surveys completed, and testing procedures refined.
