The Project’s primary goal was the development of a system to detect, monitor, evaluate and where necessary, control forest pests in the boreal forests of northwest Alberta.
Objectives included assessment of current pest conditions, design of appropriate sampling protocols, develop adequate aerial survey methodologies, and prepare a comprehensive integrated pest management survey manual.
The two principal deliverables were a "Summary of Aerial Detection Procedures for the Forest Pests of Alberta" published in draft form in January of 1999, and a proposed "Integrated Pest Management Survey Manual" dated January 1999.
There were several other co-sponsors of this Project, however their contributions were from non-FRIP sources.
