Project was a continuation of MPB Critical Inventory Phase 1 (FHRFHP-050) project where innovative forestry inventory approaches to address the MPB threat were investigated.
This is the third phase of the project, enlisting the partnership of 7 forest industry companies plus 14 townships in the area of study. The project evaluated recent advancements in remote sensing technology and the ability to produce very detailed forest inventory information.
Project objectives were to:
- produce a detailed inventory for each FMA holder participant using the same semi-automated forest inventory process developed in MPB Critical Inventory (MPBP-12-016) , thus making a 14 township pilot area
- automate the delineation of stands for the 14 townships
- demonstrate how the new inventory could be utilized to enhance strategic planning with refined growth and yield/ inventory information
- demonstrate how the new inventory could be utilized to enhance ILM decision making
Final Report
The final report was presented August 2013.
