Project Code: DMI-01-007
Area:Inventory and Planning
Sponsor:Daishowa Marubeni

The primary purpose of this Project was to apply the Canadian Forestry Service’s Spruce Budworm Decision Support System to the northwest quadrant of Alberta.

Objectives included adapting the system to Alberta’s information base, completion of certain strategic planning analyses, application of the System to a particular landbase in northwestern Alberta, and determining procedures & data requirements for its implementation elsewhere in the province and for other pests.

The data base construction, various analyses, and growing stock impacts were constructed/finalized over the 1998 & 1999 calendar years. The results of the Study are contained in a twenty-nine page report entitled "Spruce Budworm DSS Protection Planning System in Alberta: Footner Forest" and dated March 2000.
