As its principal objective, this Project’s intent was to reduce inter-species competition to established conifer regeneration through the aerial application of the herbicide "Vantage"[glyphosate] and a basal herbicide "Release" [triclopyr].
The herbicide application was carried out in August & September of 2005. In all 34 cutblocks were treated and comprised 553 hectares in total [534 hectares aerial & 19 hectares ground application]. Direct costs [applicator, herbicide, water supply, vehicle rent/fuel, supervisory/monitoring wages, and communication rental] amounted to $270.96 per hectare.
Project results are summarized in a brief four page report entitled "Aerial and Ground Release Project 2005", prepared by Steve Blanton, and dated January 31, 2006.
