This Project’s purpose was to reduce competing vegetation which was overtopping the coniferous crop trees.

Objectives included identifying those blocks requiring follow-up tending, suppressing the growth of undesirable vegetation threatening the success of the regeneration, and to the release the crop trees so that they achieve free-to-grow status.

During the 1999 season, eighteen cutblocks were surveyed and a total of 226 hectares (11 cutblocks) were treated with an aerially applied herbicide for conifer release.
