Object & Deliverables
During the 1988 O’Chiese fire, approximately 7,000 ha was burned in the Drayton Valley FMA. The objective of the project was to re- inventory the burned area that fell within the FMA and assess if there were any opportunities available for enhanced forest management. The total area burned was 5,493 ha with 1,333 ha classified as non-forested.
The inventory catalogued leading species, timber productivity rating, and by crown. The inventory was done using both photo interpretive and ground-based assessments, which provided data that could be used to support silviculture prescriptions.
