Project Code: WELD-01-105
Area:Field Operations
Sponsor:Weldwood of Canada Ltd.

The primary purpose of this Project was maintenance of the coniferous growing stock in already regenerated pre-1991 harvested cutblocks.

Objectives included pre-tending surveys; cleaning and tending of the competing aspen and decidous shrubs within 2 meters of the established lodgepole pine; and the completion of post-tending quality audits.

During the Spring, Summer and Fall of the year 2003 – 599.05 hectares were cleaned/tended and/or girdled at an average price of $603.59 per hectare. Additionally, 1,158 hectares were assessed on a pre-treatment basis and 541 hectares were laid out and surveyed as treatment areas.

Project results are summarized in an eleven page report entitled "Stand Tending of Pre-1991 Cutblocks – 2003 Program", prepared by Shannon Fagnan, and dated December 2004.
