The primary purpose of this Project was maintenance of the coniferous growing stock in already regenerated pre-1991 harvested cutblocks.

Objectives included pre-tending surveys; cleaning and tending of the competing aspen and decidous shrubs within 2 meters of the established lodgepole pine; and the completion of post-tending quality audits.

During the Spring, Summer and Fall of the year 2002 – 814.5 hectares were cleaned/tended at an average price of $588.31 per hectare. Additionally, 4,800 hectares were assessed on a pre-treatment basis and 840 hectares were laid out and surveyed as treatment areas.

Final Report

Project results are summarized in an eleven page report entitled “Stand Tending of Pre-1991 Cutblocks – 2002 Program”, prepared by Shannon Fagnan, and dated October 2003.
