Object & Deliverables
The primary goal of this Project was to increase the productivity of established coniferous species on selected cut units through removal/retardation of the competing hardwood species.
Phase V objectives included the pre-treatment surveys, weeding & thinning and/or herbicide application on approximately 1,565 hectares.
Over the four summer seasons of 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001- 1,182 hectares of previously regenerated cutovers were manually cleaned & thinned utilizing brush saws, and 149 hectares were treated through a basal bark application of herbicide.
