Object & Deliverables

The primary objective of the budworm monitoring program was to determine critical infestation areas and to predict dates for pre-spray sampling, spray-ready stage and post-spray sampling. 16 trap locations were set, in order to determine current population numbers, whether the infestation area was expanding, how effective the spray application has been and population projection for 2000.

Final Report

Final report prepared by Jeff Scammell May 2001, and contained details about the 1997-1999 sampling project.

The budworm infestation in the southern part of the NEB region was mainly found along the Athabasca and House rivers. The monitoring program had a direct impact on the ability of managers to address the problems created by this outbreak in a proactive manner.
