This Project was conducted to provide the continuation of public access and recreational facilities to Spring Lake. Spring Lake is a recreation site that Weyerhaeuser maintains for ongoing use by the general public. Between May 15 and October 15, 1999, 2850 overnight camping units were recorded. Caretakers were hired to maintain the quality of the recreational facilities and many of the on site facilities (building, picnic tables, and fire pits) were renovated. This Project improves the management of forest resources through demonstrating integrated use. Recreational opportunities are an important stakeholder value, and interaction with the forest on a recreational basis will help to increase public understanding about the forest resource.
