The project continued funding an experienced, knowledgeable, and qualified forest educator to assist teachers with delivering forest resource education curriculum.
Complementary project activities included increasing forest literacy of the children in the K – Grade 12 levels; assisting teachers from the Slave Lake Region with resource education; and increasing public knowledge and awareness of the forest resource.
Over the period of September 2006 to August 2009, the Lesser Slave Forest Education Society engaged 12,996 students, completed 675 classroom visits or field trips, and 855 teachers either attended these sessions or were involved in teacher workshops during the three years.
