Object & Deliverables
The project was initially planned to include the FMA’s of Edson and Drayton Valley. However, due to other commitments, Drayton Valley was not able to participate. Full stocking involves improving the stocking on areas within cutovers that have already met legislative requirements set out by the government of Alberta. The intent is to minimize the landbase within the forest management areas which do not support tree growth in order to maximize productivity per ha. Site preparation used Donnaren mounding which was accomplished by Swedcan West Inc. Seedling planting was done by Bruin Reforestation Inc. and all blocks passed quality control.
In the end, 16,540 seedlings were planted in the Edson FMA to accomplish full stocking on 27.8 ha. The final report was submitted by Dave Kent and was entitiled, “Final Report – Full stocking 2000” submitted on February 26, 2001.
