Object & Deliverables
This research Project focused on management issues and questions by assessing grizzly bear populations, bear response to human activities, and habitat conditions.
Its objectives include identification of habitat and landscape conditions, provision of the necessary knowledge and planning tools to ensure the long term conservation of grizzly bears along the eastern slope of Alberta’s Rocky Mountains, and the development of a set of validated & user friendly GIS based computer models to provide predictive capability for potential land use conflicts.
This Project involved the partial financial support of the Foothills Model Forest’s Grizzly Bear Research Program for the years 2000 to 2003 inclusive. Deliverables are the 2000, 2002 & 2003 Annual Reports, all of which are available in the Project file. Note that a copy of the 2001 Annual Report is available in File No. CANFOR-01-33.
