Project Code: WEYDV-02-153
Area:Other
Sponsor:Weyerhaeuser Canada Ltd.

The overall purpose of this Project was to clearly articulate the issues and questions regarding vegetative management issues in Alberta and develop a future course of action towards enhancing the ability to quantify the benefits of alternative establishment practices.

Specific Project objectives included developing a strategy for an applied research program that identifies regenerating stand issues/opportunities and supports silviculture decision making; and proposing options for transformation of the Northern Interior Vegetation Management Association [NIVMA] in order to adopt an applied research program.

The one day facilitated Workshop was held in Edmonton on April 28th, 2005.

Results of the Workshop and follow-up activities are summarized in two separate reports:

* Workshop Record – Achieving Alignment in Our Collective Strategic Intent and Developing Options, Strategy and Action Plan for NIVMA Alberta, prepared by Keith Jones & Bruce MacArthur, and dated May 24, 2005; and
* Challenge Dialogue & Workshop Synopsis and Next Steps – Achieving Alignment in Our Collective Strategic Intent and Developing Options, Strategy and Action Plan for NIVMA Alberta, prepared by Keith Jones & Bruce MacArthur, and dated June 17, 2005.
