Object & Deliverables

The primary goal of this project was to determine the viability of using Compact Airborne Spectroscopic Imager (casi), a multispectral airborne pushbroom imaging spectrograph, for identifying the extent of dwarf mistletoe infection in lodgepole pine forests. This overarching objective was accomplished through the completion of six phases:

  1. Identification of lodgepole pine using casi data
  2. Assessment of lodgepole pine identification accuracy
  3. Identification of spectral indicators of dwarf mistletoe on lodgepole pine
  4. Identification of dwarf mistletoe infection areas
  5. Assessment of infection area identification accuracy
  6. Provision of an easily incorporable and efficient process for acquiring dwarf mistletoe data to be entered into the Decision Support System
