Project Code: | MWI-01-019 |
Area: | Applied Research |
Sponsor: | Millar Western Forest |
The purpose of this Project was to compare the pre and post-harvest biotic communities to evaluate whether biotic communities within the first two years post-harvest are related to clump size and distance between clumps.
This Project evaluated how patch size and distance between patches affected biodiversity in cutblocks. The treatments were compared both on the site and stand level.
The final report provides management implications regarding dispersion of standing trees and snags in cutovers. A final research report has been submitted entitled "Biodiversity in Cutblocks with Few Large Versus Many Small Residual Patches of Trees and Snags: 199-2000 Final Report".
