The primary purpose of this Project was to analyze provincial regulatory regimes that pertain to forest and oil/gas industries and assess current areas of conflict, coordination, & integration between the two industries in forest management in Alberta.
Project objectives included assessment of the current opportunities & constraints for Integrated Resource Management [IRM] in Alberta; examination of the extent to which multiple resource management leads to social conflict; and an analysis of the perspectives of forestry stakeholders on the potential IRM to alleviate this social conflict.
The work activities associated with this Project took place over the period of May 2001 to May 2003.
Study results are contained in a 127 page thesis entitled "Opportunities and Constraints on Voluntary Environmental Strategies: A Comparative Case Study of Integrated Resource Management in Alberta, Canada", authored by Norah Anne MacKendrick, and dated Spring 2003.
