Project Code: | ZAMA-01-004 |
Area: | Field Operations |

The primary purpose of this Project was improved conifer survival and eventual increased forest resource yield.
Objectives included conifer release, increased conifer yield, and the training & development of a cadre of experienced brush saw operators/thinners/cleaners.
Over the late Spring and early Summer of 2001, four cutblocks regenerated to conifer and comprising 108.3 hectares were mechanically thinned and cleaned utilizing brush saws.
Operational costs approximated $1,047 dollars per hectare – considerably higher than the provincial average for similar work. High deciduous densities were thought to be a contributing factor.
