Project Code: WELD-01-072
Area:Other
Sponsor:Weldwood of Canada Ltd.

The primary purpose/objective of this Project was the development of a standardized process to assess potential environmental impacts of watercourse crossings and prescribe acceptable mitigation measures.

Due to uncertainties regarding the application of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act within the Province of Alberta and the need for the associated Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA’s), it was decided to change the scope of the Project.

The final sixty-three page Technical Report entitled "Development of a Class Assessment Process for Routine Watercourse Crossings in Alberta" outlines the required elements of a standardized environmental assessment (class screening reports), the process to be followed by applicants, and considerations for site selection, construction, maintenance, and decommissioning of watercourse crossings. The report also includes all the elements that remain to be addressed in completing a standardized assessment should the need be re-identified.
