This Projects principal aim was to reduce the chance of inter- and intra-specific competition and assist the conifer crop trees to achieve/maintain free-to-grow status.
Project objectives included density reduction of competing vegetation; release of the conifer crop trees; and the creation of an environment in which the crop trees can maintain a free growing status.
Over the summer/fall of 1999, a total of 2,015.24 hectares of reforested cutblocks were manually cleaned/thinned utilizing professional contractors. The average tending cost amounted to $569.95 per hectare.
