Object & Deliverables
The Project’s primary purpose was the reduction of competition within established conifer plantations by reducing aspen and vegetative shrub densities.
Initial objectives included manual stand tending of approximately 560 hectares and reconnaisance surveys totalling 1500 hectares.
Over the summer of 1997 – 560.9 hectares of previously harvested cutovers were manually tended using brush saws, and 3089 hectares surveyed. Direct tending costs amounted to about $564 per hectare.
