Object & Deliverables
The objective of the project was to collect scions (genetic material- branches) from 64 trees within the four progeny trials which will be used for grafting onto rootstock in Vernon, BC. The new seedling orchard will be installed adjacent to the existing production units at the Blue Ridge Orchard Site.
Project Objectives
- Improve productivity of forest lands by selecting individual trees exhibiting superior growth traits
- Support long term management of forest land by improving yield and regeneration on managed stands by having more improved seed to use.
