Program: FRIP
Area:Inventory and Planning

Object & Deliverables

The principal aim of this Project was to inventory old cutovers and plan a “next” management strategy(s).

Specific Project objectives included provision of a detailed AVI Inventory for each cutblock harvested in Forest
Management Units A-14 [Clearwater River Operating Area] & L-03 on or before 1993; and provision of a “next” management strategy for each cutblock inventoried.

The field work associated with Phase I [RSI Inventory] of this Project was carried out over the period – Spring 1998 to June 2001, while Phase II [development of the Algorithm and Yield Analysis] was completed during 2001.

During the life of the Project – 21,583.78 hectares of Regenerated Stand Inventory was completed [18,140.48 ha. in FMU L- O3; 2923 ha. in A-14; & 520.3 ha. of non-harvested areas within harvested boundaries]. In addition the “Algorithm” was completed and a few iterations run in the Timber Supply Analysis.

Final Report

The Project results are briefly summarized in a five page report entitled “Regenerated Stand Inventory – Final Report”, prepared by Ron Sparrow & David J. Flynn, and dated July 11th, 2003.
