Object & Deliverables
The primary objective of this project was to maintain recreation facility sites – principally campgrounds – open and operational so that the public would have a place to go and enjoy recreation activities in the forest area southwest of Rocky Mountain House. Supplementary and expected objectives included a reduction in the number of random campers which will in turn lessen the impacts caused by this activity including the reduction of the risk of wildfire.
Over the late Spring, Summer and early Fall periods of 2006 and 2007, maintenance and operation costs were underwritten for seven Recreation Areas in the Prairie Creek Region, namely: Strachan, Prairie Creek, Prairie Creek Group, Mitchell Lake, Swan Lake, Tay River, and Phyllis Lake.
Project results are contained in a final summary report entitled “Recreation Site Management – Prairie Creek Region”, prepared by Myles Jensen dated March 2008.
