The objectives of the project were to provide security of wood supply by creating a wood supply analysis and preliminary harvest plan for members of the Ghost Local Advisory Committee as the disposition holder is not responsible for these activities. A consultant was hired and Alberta Vegetation Inventory data, Alberta Sustainable Resource Development (ASRD) reconnaissance cruise information and ground truthing were used to assess the timber resource, topography and wildlife use. The consultant contacted tenured users within the Commercial Timber Permit (CTP) area, Alberta Sustainable Resources Development and Fish and Wildlife to discuss the harvest planning and operations. In addition, an open house was held on September 18, 2003 with local residents and stakeholders to review the harvest plan. Their concerns and suggestions were utilized in the development of the Preliminary Harvest Plan. Results of the project are included in the document entitled “South Ghost Final Harvest Plan”, December 2003, prepared by Trees Consulting Inc..
