Object & Deliverables

The objective of the project was the monitoring of a major land bird migration corridor to document population trend indices and breeding bird demographics. The project helped fund three field seasons of work done by the Lesser Slave Lake Bird Observatory. The work includes monitoring of the spring and fall migration with both observations and netting/banding. Records were kept of all species observed and compared to previous years to monitor changes. Banding first began in 1993 so there are now over 6 years of records. The Observatory also entertains and educates visitors throughout the summer season.

Final Report

Final reports were submitted by the Lesser Slave Lake Bird Observatory and consisted of the “Monitoring Avian Productivity and Survivorship Program – 1999 report” by Stephan Jungkind and the Lesser Slave Lake Monitoring Report, Spring and Fall 2000″ and Spring and Fall 2001 by Jul Wojnowski.
