The provision of all forestry planning, field work, and regulatory support to identify, plan and obtain approval from Alberta to advance white spruce regeneration in 37 hectares of wildfire impacted white spruce stands using drone and seedpod technology/methodology. The white spruce leading stands that were treated through this applied research project have not been harvested (prior to or post wildfire). The total treatment area selected is two stands totalling to 37 hectares. Approximately 1,353,500 seedpods were deployed, with sucessful germination density determined to be 2,967/ha in location A16, and 2,441 in location L03. The monitoring plots were comprised of four parallel linear transects with each line having one of the four treatment conditions (Pj dropped, Pj embedded, Sw droppped, Sw embedded).
Deliverables:
- 37 ha of wildfire impacted stands seeded with drone/seedpod technology
