Object & Deliverables
The primary goal for this Project was to provide a detailed landscape level ecological classification at the ecosite and ecosite phase level for the P15 Forest Management Unit in northwest Alberta.
Its primary objective was to develop a spatially explicit land classification, GIS based model that effectively stratifies complex landscapes into ecologically based landscape units that represent fundamental units of classification, i.e. ecosite and ecosite phase.
The existing data acquisition, collection and entry of additional field data, pre-stratification of data for ecosite mapping, verification/refinement of the ecosite phase polygons/model, and development of the final ecosite maps & final reports were carried out over the period April 2005 to March 2006 inclusive.
Project results are contained in a 150 page report entitled “Ecological Classfication for the Southern Portion of Forest Management P15”, prepared by Geographic Dynamics Corporation, and dated March 2006.
