Object & Deliverables
This project delineated two blocks to be site tended during the summer of 2000. Initially the project was going to tend blocks in both Edson and Drayton Valley but the Drayton Valley site did not contribute blocks. The contract was completed by Coast Range Contracting. The deliverable of the project was the creation of well spaced and efficiently growing stands. Prescriptions were developed by foresters which were intended to be biologically effective and meet the management goals of the site. A quality control system was instituted to measure the stand tending results against the prescriptions. Monitor plots were established within the blocks to be used for qualtiy control. No plots were rejected. The prescription objective was to release potential coniferous trees from deciduous and shrub competition. Where voids exist within coniferous stocking, or potential crop tree is of an acceptable condition, deciduous trees will be considered acceptable and not removed.
The final report was submitted by Dave Kent, entitled, “Final Report – Density Managment 2000 WEYDV-02-081” received on December 12, 2000.
