Object & Deliverables

The primary objectives of this program were to deliver a co-operative fisheries inventory program in specific prioritized areas of the Rocky Mountain House area and to facilitate improved resource protection and resource management strategies. These objectives were achieved with the completion of several sub-objectives:

  1. Gathering data on fish populations and aquatic habitats in prioritized areas and inputting these data into a standardized database. Data collected included descriptions of fish habitat types, fish species composition, and population statuses.
  2. Collecting and storing fisheries information in a standardized, GIS-compatible database to be presented in a routinely updated map format.
  3. Ensuring data collected could be used to make proactive resource management and development decisions.
  4. Encouraging and pursuing partnership opportunities with government agencies, private industry, and special interest groups in the area of data collection, funding, and delivery of a fisheries inventory program.
