Object & Deliverables

Applications of a standardized Aquatic Biomonitoring Program and Research Priorities for Informing Cumulative Management and Research in Alberta Foothills Forested Watersheds.

Project is intended to:

  • educate forest managers on the methods and application of a standardized biomonitoring tool (Canadian Aquatic Biomonitoring Network (CABIN))
  • connect forest managers with other CABIN users for the purpose of knowledge exchange , data sharing and support, and
  • identify research priorities related to the impacts of forest management policy and practices on aquatic ecosystem and watershed health
  • support the development of CABIN analytical tools for the Eastern Slopes and foothills by identifying candidate reference sites to be used for development of a predictive model for benthic invertebrate communities in the region.

The final report was submitted January 2022, by Emily Cicon,

An online workshop was successfully hosted February 2021, and an online survey conducted in June of the same year.
