Object & Deliverables

 

The goal of this project was to improve the forest resource by updating and improving the data that is used for managing the forest. The specific objective was to update the forest inventory for FMU’s P01 and P03 to AVI 2.1 standards. The inventory was based on AVI version 2.1 specifications and completed in a softcopy environment using leaf-on 1:30,000 black and white aerial photography. Delineation and field work began in December, 2007 and was completed in February, 2008. Final digital processing and map production was completed by July, 2008. The total white zone area inventoried to AVI version 2.1 specifications was 14,381 hectares, a township equivalency of about 14 townships. The total number of polygons created was 6,552.

Final Report

The inventory was completed and submitted to Alberta Sustainable Resource Development on August 11, 2008. The detailed results of the project are contained in a final report entitled, “Alberta Vegetation Inventory (AVI 2.1) for areas within FMU’s P01 and P03 (white zone) – Final Report” prepared by Greenlink Forestry Inc. dated March 2009.
