The objective of this Project was to preserve the softwood land base by controlling competing vegetation which in turn will improve the growth and ensure survival of the coniferous crop trees. This will be accomplished with some form of stand tending on pre-1991 cutovers that were regenerated to softwood and are now being converted to a mixedwood stand through competition from aspen, alder and willow. A total of 1138 hectares were tended.
